Introduction

Slicing is a particularly straight-forward crew skill since it provides only two types of rewards: lockboxes and augments. Augments are used to fill augment slots created by “exceptional” weapons and armor but are of very limited appeal. Lockboxes are filled with credits, sometimes worth less than what you paid for them, but most of the time worth more than what the mission cost. On occasion the Lockbox missions also yield a crafting schematic for Cybertech or Mission Discovery items, which give you new one-shot crew skill missions (including more slicing missions). Higher yield missions have a better chance of getting better quality augments or more credits from the lockboxes.

Unlike every other gathering skill Slicing is not important to any particular crafting set. Augments can be put into "Exceptional" gear made by crafters like Synthweavers or Armortechs, but they are not a part of the actual crafting process. Similarly the Cybertechs can make use of the schematics found occasionally with Lockboxes, but these are not essential for that craft. Lastly, other gathering skills can take advantage of the Mission Discovery items, also found sometimes with Lockboxes, but these are also merely bonuses rather than essential.

This is a small key you can use to help you understand the list below.

Tier - Gathering skills are arranged in your crew skills panel based on what level items you will receive from your missions. Higher tiers yield higher level items, and more valuable Lockboxes

Difficulty - All crew skills have 4 levels of difficult associated with them, identified by a color. Orange is the most difficult, yellow is second, green is third and least difficult is gray. The format of difficulty is 1/20/40/60, with the first number indicating the level that you can first learn the mission and appears orange. The second number is when the mission turns to yellow difficulty, the third when it turns green and finally the fourth number for when it turns gray. The most important number is when the mission first becomes available, so I've included that in the checklist portion of the list.

(R)/(E) - Some missions can only be undertaken by the Republic or by the Empire, so (R) indicate Republic only and (E) indicates Empire only.
